Job done: work both sides sign

On Vaurse Hire, a finished job becomes a signed record on both sides, so the work you do turns into proof you can carry.

A home kitchen in Accra, Ghana: a Ghanaian plumber in work clothes kneels under a sink fixing a pipe while the homeowner, a Ghanaian woman in everyday clothes, looks on and chats with him.

Most work in Ghana is found by word of mouth. A friend knows a plumber. A cousin knows a driver. It works, but the proof stays in people's heads. When the plumber starts working in a new area, nobody there has heard of him. Vaurse Hire is built to change that, one finished job at a time.

This part of Vaurse is still being built. On our roadmap it is marked "Building", and Vaurse Hire is starting in Accra, then going city by city across Ghana. Here is how it is designed to work.

Switch on Open to work

It starts in the Vaurse app. You switch on Open to work, and you choose the details:

  • The work and the pay. Gigs, full time, part time or contract. Your rate or monthly pay is shown on every result.
  • Where and when. The areas you work in and the days you're free. You can pause with one tap while you're on a job.
  • Who can see you. You can hide from named companies, including the one you work for. Your employer is never told.
  • Who can reach you. You can turn off requests from people whose ID isn't checked, or from agencies.

Being found is free, always. Nobody pays to be found, and a request asking a worker to pay for a job is blocked.

A request for an hour of your time

Someone who needs help, say a family in Osu with a leaking pipe, tells Vaurix what they need. Vaurix only shows people who switched on Open to work for that kind of work. Each result lists the signed facts that matched, and who signed them. It never gives anyone a score, a rank or a star rating.

When the hirer finds someone who fits, they ask for an hour of that person's time. The pay band is shown on the request. No pay, no request. A request from a company arrives in the person's app with the role, the pay and the company name, and an agency must say who the role is for.

You accept, decline or ask a question. Nothing about you is shared until you accept. Your phone, email and home address stay hidden until you choose to share them, and your full name shows only after you accept. A request nobody answers ends after 48 hours for gigs and 72 hours for jobs.

Agree, work, get paid

Once you accept, you chat in the Vaurse app and agree the details. You agree the pay in the chat and pay each other directly. The money never passes through Vaurse. If something feels wrong, you can report or block from any request or chat.

Both sides sign "Job done"

After the work, either side taps Job done. When the other side confirms, a signed record goes on both Vaurse records. The worker gets proof of the job. The hirer gets proof they paid as agreed.

A Job done record shows the work, where it was done, who it was for, and whether the pay was made as agreed, confirmed by the worker. The hirer chooses whether their name shows, or just "a client in" their area. Companies are always named.

Because both sides confirm it, nobody can write a Job done record alone.

Why it matters for workers

A worker with no certificates can build a record that strangers trust, one job at a time. Say Kwame fixes pipes around Osu. Job by job, each one confirmed by the client, his record grows. A new customer in another part of Accra can then see that work for themselves, next to any trade certificate his school signed and any years an employer signed.

That record is his. It goes with him when he moves on, and he decides who sees it. Hirers see what's been signed, not a CV anyone could write. Age, religion, ethnicity, health and family are never shown, and nobody can search by them.
